Obituary

Sharon Buonauro Cullman, age 62, passed away peacefully at The Kobacker House Hospice, Columbus, Ohio on November 10, 2021 after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Prior to Sharon's AML diagnosis, she was a seven year Breast Cancer survivor. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, friend and teacher. Sharon was born November 6, 1959 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1961, Sharon's family moved to Columbus, Ohio. Sharon graduated from St.Francis DeSales High School. She received a Bachelors degree from The Ohio State University and a Masters Degree in Education from Ashland University. Sharon lived in Larchmont, New York from 1994 through 2000 and was employed as a nanny. She returned to Columbus, Ohio in 2000 to be near family again. Sharon shared her gift of teaching with many students and was employed as an elementary school teacher by Columbus City Schools from 2005 until present. During Sharon's employment with CCS, she was assigned as an intervention teaching specialist at Nationwide Childrens Hospital for six years in the Transplant and Hematology unit. Sharon had such a passion for educating children and nurturing their own unique learning styles. Sharon taught students until she began treatment in March 2021. She was a loyal Buckeye and Steelers sports fan. Sharon was an exceptional cook and was adventurous trying new recipes and types of cuisine. She loved spending time with family and friends. Sharon was preceded in death by her father; Edward Joseph Cullman, Sr. and sister; Susan Terese Cullman. Survivors include her mother; Lori Buonauro and long time friend, Carol Moss, step mother; Evelyn Cullman, sister; Diana (Beckham) Marie Wyrick, brother; Edward Joseph (Ruth Gambill) Cullman, Jr., Step sister; Cheryl (John) Jordan, Step brother; Jeff Giardina, nieces; Marissa Grace Wyrick, Natalia Tauro, Destiny Tauro, Nadine Martinez, Chelsea Beaty (Martinez) and Brooke Jordan, nephews; Samuel Beckham Wyrick, Brock Edward Cullman, Charles Martinez and Noah Elliott, and many caring aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and students. A special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff at The James Hematology and Transplant Clinic, 15th floor Acute Leukemia Unit and Kobacker House Hospice. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. followed by prayer service at JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. Fifth Avenue Columbus, Ohio 43212. A Funeral Liturgy Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church German Village, 684 S. Third Street Columbus, Ohio 43206. A procession to St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S. High Street Lockbourne, Ohio 43137 will follow the mass.
