It is with heavy hearts and warm memories we share the passing of Joseph "Josie" Cua, born in Columbus, Ohio on October 9, 1923 and ushered into Heaven on September 21, 2018. He attended Aquinas H.S. and the Ohio State University before enlisting in the Army on January 18th, 1943 at the age of 19; and was honorably discharged on February 11th, 1946 as Sergeant of the 660th Tank Destroyer RN. After the end of WWII, he came home and worked with his father and mother in the family's landscaping, topsoil and florist businesses. Josie met the love of his life Elois Lefebure Cua and they were married on September 16th, 1951. Together they had 10 children: Mike & (Laura d.) Cua, John Cua, Tom (Angela) Cua, Margaret (Casey) Flanagan, Jeanenne (Sam) Carfagna, Jennifer (Rusty) Staab, Chris & (Debbie) Cua, Amy (Vinny) Susi, Jamey (Annamarie) Cua, Joseph III (Alise) Cua; along with 36 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Josie was preceded in death by his parents Joseph & Esterina, his brother John and his sister Mary "Tootsie" (Bill) Beard. More than anything, he loved Elois and their family. They sent all of their children through catholic schools at St. James the Less elementary, St. Francis DeSales and St. Charles high schools. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports and loved sports himself, playing golf with his life long friends at the Riviera CC. Josie's gregarious voice was matched by his huge heart. Long before cell phones, he would be out on job sites, hear a siren and find a pay phone to call home and make sure all the kids were ok. Josie always carried dimes in his pocket, the cost of a phone call back then. Elois and her children will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Monday, September 24, 2018 at the John Quint Treboni Funeral Home, 1177 West 5th Ave. Columbus, Ohio 43212. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church 313 N. State St. Westerville, Ohio 43082 on Tuesday September 25th at 10:30 am. Family and friends can gather at the church. Interment following mass at St. Joseph Cemetery 6440 S. High St. Lockbourne, Oh 43137. Our family would like to thank Dr. William Gramann, and the good and caring people at Riverside Hospital, the Veteran's Administration and Crown Pointe Care Center. We especially want to thank our sister Amy and brother John for all their selfless care of Mom and Dad through their waning years. It has been great having such a large family as all have contributed, and continue to care for these two beautiful parents, grandparents and great grandparents. If you feel so compelled, please contribute to the Joe & Elois Cua Scholarship Fund at St. Francis DeSales H.S.
