Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Teresa Rita Milsom (Yauger), aged 96, on June 22, 2024 in Columbus, Ohio.
Born on November 26, 1927, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Teresa married the love of her life, Paul Milsom I on January 13, 1950 and they remained together for 63 years. Teresa had a 42 year career at AT&T, beginning as an operator and advancing to management. Teresa took great pride in her contributions to the company and the relationships she made there. She was known for her remarkable work ethic, intelligence, and leadership skills. Teresa served as a role model and mentor to others regarding financial success from hard work and investing. Teresa and Paul moved to Youngstown, Ohio in 1951 and built a family filled with love and joy. She is survived by her daughter, Paula Milsom Brown (Jeff Johnson); her son, Paul (Jacqueline) Milsom II; and her grandchildren, Zachary Brown (Frances Krumholtz), and Alex Brown (Casey) and Alexandria Toothman. She was preceded in death by her husband; her mother, Mary Ann Yauger (Murphy); her father, John Edward Yauger; and her brothers, Edward Yauger, Regis Yauger and sister Mary Francis Mintz. Teresa and Paul settled in Columbus, Ohio in 1998 to be closer to family. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when needed, offering abundant support, wisdom, and love. Teresa had a deep love and pride for her grandchildren, and she cherished the time she spent with them. Her great sense of humor and positive spirit brightened the lives of everyone around her. Teresa’s absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who love her. Her family and friends will forever remember her legacy of love, kindness, and strength. A private family service will be held to honor Teresa’s life, and her ashes will be buried in Uniontown, Pennsylvania next to her beloved husband. Growing up, Teresa's family was very poor, and at times, they were homeless. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Collective & “Heer to Serve,” which provides support to Ohio’s unsheltered communities. Please send donations to First Collective, 108 Hamilton Ave Columbus, Oh 43203, and include in the memo line the note “Heer to Serve” in memory of Teresa Milsom.
