Obituary

Susan Stella Brinkman, born Susan Rogers in Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at the age of 80. A resident of Cloverdale, Ohio, Susan will be remembered for the love and care she gave to her family. Susan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Katherine Rogers; and her beloved husband, Anthony Stella, with whom she shared two sons, Michael (Vicki) Stella and Nicholas Stella. In 2009, Susan was blessed to find love again when she married Larry Brinkman. Through their marriage, she warmly welcomed Larry’s daughters, Amy (Robert) Quigley, Denise (Shannon) Matthews, and Amanda (Andrew) Conn into her family. She is also survived by her sister, Diane (Claude) Springer. Susan was a loving and adoring Nana to Sophia, Ariana, and Brooklyn Stella. She was also affectionately known as Grandma Susan to Alexandria (Kim) McGarvey, Kacie (Ryan) Troyer, Zachary Quigley, Jacob Quigley, Conner (Kyla) Matthews, Carter Matthews, Reed Matthews, Brody Matthews, Hunter (Payton) Conn, and Madelyn Conn. Her great-grandchildren include Everleigh Troyer, Paisley Troyer, and Sawyer Conn. Susan found great joy in tending the garden she shared with Larry and generously sharing its harvest with her family. She was especially known for sending freshly picked, cleaned green beans so everyone could make her famous green bean salad. In the fall, she looked forward to cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes every Saturday. Susan had a deep and abiding faith and prayed daily for her family. She and Larry found comfort in reciting Psalm 91 together, a cherished reminder of God’s protection, faithfulness, and loving care. Her kindness, warmth, and love for her family will be deeply missed. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church 1559 Roxbury Rd Columbus, Ohio 43212 on Thursday, July 9, 2026 from 11am - 12 pm followed by a Catholic Mass at 12 pm. A procession will follow the Mass for burial at Resurrection Cemetery 9571 N. High St. Lewis Center, Ohio 43035.

I have so many happy memories of Susie growing up. We lived in Grandview and went to school together. She was a good friend.
