Obituary
Rosemary A. Schopis, age 94, passed away on February 16, 2024. She was born in East Orange, New Jersey and was employed by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Jersey and was a devout Roman Catholic. She relocated to Columbus, Ohio along with her parents Otto and Rose (Garkowski) Schopis who preceded her in death. Rosemary was also preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law Robert and Ellen Schopis; niece, Barbara Bell and many dear feline companions. She had deep passion for aiding animal rescues, specifically cats. She enjoyed European history, theater, ballet and all Chinese culture, including international travel to China. Rosemary is survived by nephews, Robert (Susan) Schopis, Paul (Paula) Schopis, Mark (Erin) Schopis, and William Schopis; and niece, Mary (Kevin) Morris. A private family service will be held with final interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, consider at donation to an animal charity of your choice. I was the store manager at Pet Supplies Plus where Rosemary shopped for her beloved cats. I looked forward to her visiting the store and it was always the highlight of my day. I enjoyed many conversations with her about what she’d saw on the news or a TV show she enjoyed along with stories of her travels and life with her parents and siblings. She was a wonderful, sweet and kind woman who was always filled with so much spunk. I will miss you Rosemary.
