Obituary
Richard Joseph McCloskey Sr. was born on May 4, 1929 and he died on June 30, 2024. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elizabeth McCloskey; parents, Francis A. and Gladys (Buskirk) McCloskey; sons, Michael McCloskey and Paul McCloskey; brother, Frank McCloskey; and sister, Margaret Shaw. Richard is survived by son, Richard McCloskey Jr.; daughter, Teresa McCloskey (Patrick) Hughes; daughter-in-law, Hope McCloskey; 11 grandchildren, Shawn (Erin) Rice, Julia Rice, Kelly (Kelly) McCloskey, Richard "Bud" McCloskey III, Molly (David) McCloskey, Andrew (Sophia) McCloskey, Sarah (Kenny) McCloskey, Michael Reeb, Katie (Shawn) Reeb, Mathew (Victoria) Reeb, and Megan Reeb (Brian) Smith; 13 great-grandchildren, Dominic Reeb, Noah Smith, Olivia Smith, Sawyer Reeb, Axel Reeb, Lula Lewis, Julian Lewis, Isabella Rice, Maddox McCloskey, Edith McCloskey Forest McCloskey, Vincent McCloskey and Oliver Lindquist; and many other friends and neighbors, especially Msgr. John K. Cody. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the John Quint Treboni Funeral Home, 1177 W. 5th Ave. Columbus, Ohio 43212 from 4-7 pm. with a Prayer Service at 6:30 pm. Family and Friends will meet for a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 20 E. Dominion Blvd. Columbus, Ohio 43214 at 11:00 am with Celebrant, Msgr. John K. Cody. Procession and burial will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery 6440 S. High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio 43137.

I’m grieving the loss of your father. Dad was a loving father in law to me. I really appreciated him in my life especially when my dad passed away too young. He was there for us when we needed him. He gave the whole family a lot of pleasure at Lake Erie and we all have such fond memories of boating on Macbeth. He’s now at peace with his beloved Betty.
