Ralph E. Swain, age 94, passed away on October 21, 2015 and prays he is worthy to go to God's Kingdom where he will be with his family and friends that have gone before him. He was born to the parents of Charles E. and Lurene Swain in a little hamlet called Clearport located in Fairfield County, Ohio. He graduated from Amanda High School in 1940 and from Lancaster Business College in 1942. Then, he was drafted into the United States Air Force and served in the South Pacific until 1945. He returned home and attended Ohio State University. He was employed by the Veterans Administration, the Cussins and Fern Company and Blue Cross of Central Ohio. He started the Ralph Swain Builders Company in 1962 which is now owned by his son, Thomas Swain. He is survived by his wife, Sue; his children, Thomas and wife Diana, David and wife Randy, Janice Katynski and husband Greg; his grandchildren, Paul, Philip (Melissa), Amanda, Andrew, Anthony, Austin and Audrey Swain, Emily and Peter Katynski; sister-in-law, Rosemary Bell of London, Ohio; and his step-children, Greg (Bekah) Smith, and Stacy Gessells; step-grandchildren, Scott (Theresa), Kevin (Caitlin) Gessells, Wyatt, Ethan (Allie) Smith; he is preceded in death by his first wife, Hilda (DeLuca) Swain; brothers, Lloyd and Merle; sister-in-law, Patience Swain; and brother-in-law, Rodney Bell. He was a member of St. Timothy Church, Amici D'Oro and the St. Francis Seniors Club. He also was a member of the American Legion and the Building Industry Association. He loved to travel, spend winters in Florida and play golf. His family will receive friends on Monday, October 26, 2015 from 3-7 p.m., at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus. Family and friends are asked to gather at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 1088 Thomas Lane on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. for his funeral Mass. Entombment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ralph's name may be made to the Holy Family Soup Kitchen, 57 S. Grubb, Columbus (43215).
