Patrick R. Moran, age 85, of Columbus, died Friday, May 3, 2013 at Wesley Glen with loving care provided by hospice. Born in Columbus, Ohio, on November 3, 1927. Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mike; sisters, Dora Lee and Judy. Survived by his son, Brian P. Moran; daughters, Patty Ann Branham and Marie Moran; grandchildren and numerous cousins. Pat attended Aquinas High School and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII; Pat was a retired Columbus Police officer, serving 30 years; also, serving as a State of Ohio Criminal Investigator for 10 years. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Flytown Club, Shamrock Club of Columbus; Ancient Order of Hibernians; a life member of Amvets; and a 23-year member of American Legion Post 89. He was an active member of the Ohio Volkssport Association. "He traveled each and every highway!" He was proud of his accomplishment of walking in 39 states in the USA, all 88 counties of Ohio, and Nova Scotia. Pat's family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., on Monday, May 6, 2013 at THE JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus, where the Flytown Club and the FOP will hold services beginning at 7:00 p.m. Friends and family are asked to gather for his funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m., on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel (within the grounds of St. Joseph Cemetery), 6440 S. High Street, Lockbourne. Rev. Fr. Antonio Carvalho, Presider. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Contributions in Pat's name preferred to Holy Name Building Fund, 145 E.
