Obituary
Patricia Ann (Nance) Brown of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, friendship, and service. Patty was a deeply devoted Catholic and a lifelong member of St. Christopher Parish in Grandview where her faith was at the center of her life. She generously gave her time and talents to her parish and community in countless ways. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and was an active member of the Altar Rosary Society. She served as president of the Women's Club and vice president of the Home and School Association, and she coordinated the bingo kitchen. She treasured the fellowship of her church family and the many lifelong friendships she formed there. At St. Christopher School, she served in many roles including physical education teacher, teacher's aide, cafeteria helper, cheerleading advisor, and softball coach. She also taught the JFK Council for Physical Fitness program. Above all, Patty was a devoted wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William L. Brown; and son, William F. Brown. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Figliola, Pam (Jim) Byerly, Mary (Chuck) Bahlinger, DeeDee (Luis) Perez and Susan (Brendan) Mathew; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Brown. Patty was a cherished grandmother to 13 grandchildren- Antoinette (Haris) Pratsinakis, Kimberly (Sean) Basil, Monica (Aaron) Figliola, Sarah Patterson, Joey (Chelsea) Figliola, Jimmy (Lauren) Byerly, Jacquie (Peter) McMillan, Louie (Anne) Perez, Anthony (Alex) Perez, Nick (Josie) Perez, Andrew Stroh, Emily Mathew and Julia Mathew. She was also blessed with 16 great-grandchildren- Lucy, Tyler, Sophia, Allison, RJ, Romeo, Ella, Remi, Rory, Macie, PJ, Manny, Maria, Benny, Angelo, and baby Salvatore. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will always treasure the memories they shared with her including playing cards, baking pizzelles and enjoying the simple moments that became lifelong memories. Patty loved antiques, estate sales, and garage sales so much that she turned her passion into her own business, Tag Sales by Trish. She was also an enthusiastic fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeyes. Family was always at the heart of Patty's life. Born to her loving parents Frederick & Lucille (Petrella) Nance, she was the eldest child who was like a second mother to her siblings, Charles (Geri) Nance, Freda Smith, Barbara (Jim) Beaumaster and Bernie Nance (preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Jeanne Nance). She always cherished the time she spent with them, especially their birthday luncheons at Bravo. Patty's love extended far beyond her immediate family and she will be missed by the many nieces, nephews and cousins who adored her. She was also a beloved Godmother and a confirmation sponsor to so many. Patty will be remembered for her unwavering Catholic faith, her devotion to her family, her willingness to serve others, and most of all, for the love she gave so freely. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Anthony Circle #1 scholarship fund. May she rest in eternal peace

I am very sorry to hear this. Your mom was a true mother to me also. To talk to her, to spend some time with her it was to me like a precious moments with my mother. Specially when she shared her Italian food with me. And of course her motherly strength and authority regarding St. Anthony’s feast day. To the end so faithful, so beautiful soul. May God embrace her to his Merciful Heart, Mother Mary lead her to His presence and Saint Anthony welcome her among the chosen people of Jesus. I will offer my prayers and Mass in her intention.

I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of your Mom. She was always such a kind person. I remember her fondly from my days at St. Christopher. She was so dedicated to all of us in succeeding the achievement of Presidential Physical Fitness Awards. I also vividly remember at one of Pam’s Birthday parties how she taught all of us to sing Carole Kings song “ I Feel the Earth Move” - what great fun ! Fast forward years later my youngest daughter Vendala & Pam’s daughter Jacquie played Grandview softball together. I also reconnected with Nancy at Trinity where I would run into Mrs. Brown from time to time along with yearly Fish Fry’s at St. Margaret’s. She always remembered me & my family. Sending warm thoughts & prayers , she was indeed a remarkable woman.
