Betty,
What can I say? Ang meant so much to me... I can't begin to explain. He was always there for me when I needed him. I could count on him to always be there. He looked after me down there at the ballpark and took care of me.
He was a father figure to me after my father had passed and I will always keep him in my heart.
He meant so much to me that I named my son after him. Orfeo was a good man, I can only hope my little Angelo grows up to be half the man he was. I am honored to have known him. And I will miss him greatly. My little Angelo asked to watch his baptism tape today so that he could see Orfeo playing the accordian and making his toast to my Angelo. We sat and watched that tape for most of the afternoon. What good times I will hold dear in my memory.. and I always have the tapes to show Angelo his namesake and to keep his memory alive.
My Mom (Jennie) is feeling such deep sorrow. That was her security at times I think, just to know he was there.
You will be in our thoughts and prayers, I will call you soon to see how you are. Please know that we Love You and We Loved Ang with all our hearts.
Love,
Roseonna and Angelo

I wanted to send my condolences. I played softball for many of "Angelos" teams and he was a wonderful man and a great guy that would do anything for you. I'm very sorry for your loss.

I met Angelo in 1969 when I was 19 and just starting to play softball. Angelo was helping coach the team I was playing for. The next year he and my dad started a team and Angelo and I went from team to team together for the next 10 years. We spent many, many, many nights together at the fields. We often roomed together when we went to tournaments because he and I were the only members of the teams that did not drink or pick up strange women.
Angelo was one of the nicest, most caring persons I ever met. I never heard him say a bad word about anyone. The old saying "he would give you the shirt off his back" really did apply to him.
I remember how many times he would stay and work with the players when he was tired himself. He wanted every player to reach their full potential.
Many of us, when we leave this world, will be soon forgotten. But not Angelo. Everyone loved him and respected him. I'm sorry I wasn't able to spend more time with him in the recent past. I will miss him dearly. I do know that he is up in heaven now rooting for us all. Hope to see you some day Angelo. Dad sends his best too.
I'm sorry I wasn't able to come to the viewings or the funeral service, but I found out too late. I hope you all realize what a tremendous impact he had on the thousands he knew and affected at the softball fields and basketball courts.

Jim Chiero

Betty,
Although I never met you that I recall, I wanted to tell you how much Orfeo meant to me. When I was a young lad, he took me to play baseball games. I always looked up to him as my "Big Brother." As did a lot of us from the "neighborhood." I went to see Orfeo at Grant Hospital when he was in the ICU and it was a saddening experience for me since he could not talk. I felt he wanted to say something to me, and I could not understand him. Because of his "gift of gab," I knew it was painful for him also. I wept. He attended my surprise 60th birthday party a year ago in June. I had not seen Orfeo for a very long time, and it meant sooo much for me to spend some time with him then. I will never forget Orfeo and what he did for me. Even though I did not see him much, his loss deeply saddened me. I will miss him. But, I will always have the fond memories of what made Orfeo special to me. Thank you.
