Obituary

Professor Olubodun O. Ayeni, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, in Dauphin Manitoba, Canada. Olubodun was born December 31, 1941 in Ikole Ekiti, Nigeria. The third of four siblings, younger brother to late Prof Femi Ayeni and son to late Pa and Mrs. Hannah Ayeni who went ahead of him to glory. Olubodun’s career spanned three decades during which he served as a Lecturer in the university of Ile-Ife (now OAU), Director of the Regional Center for Training in Aerospace Surveys (RECTAS now known as AFRIGIST) at Ile-Ife, Faculty member and Head of Department at the University of Lagos. He was dedicated to his craft, an accomplished author, and served in institutions such as the Surveyor Council of Nigeria (council member) and Geoinformation Society of Nigeria (president.) Olubodun’s love for Christ never waned, from 1965, when he gave his life to Christ. His passion for evangelism was boundless, and he shared his faith in little and big ways, in words and in action. He was actively involved in many ministries, serving as a mentor and board member, his ultimate goal to be a part of Christ’s mandate to spread the gospel. Olubodun had many worldly accomplishments, but none greater than his family, which he nurtured and cherished above all. He is survived by his loving wife; Dr Esther A. Ayeni. Five children; Tayo Ayeni, Kunle Ayeni, Modupe Mgboh, Dr Tumi Omodunbi, and Segun Ayeni. Seven grandchildren; Aliyah Ayeni, Toluwani Omodunbi, Temilola Omodunbi, Temilolu Omodunbi, Ebube Mgboh, Loshe Mgboh, and Siena Ayeni. Two sons-in-law; Benjamin Mgboh and Dr Dipo Omodunbi. Two siblings; Mr Ayo Ayeni and Mrs Remi Babalola.
