I first met Nanette at foreign language conferences but I got to know her better when we both became docents at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. She was a dedicated volunteer, despite her struggles with Parkinson’s. I am so sorry to hear of her passing.

What a joyful life to teach and volunteer with passion. She attended my dance classes for some time. 15+ years later her sister still does. I wish I could have studied Spanish with Nanette. May she rest in peace, and thrive in what lies ahead

By far one of the coolest teachers I had at Columbus South. Miss Pontones knew that Spanish was not my specialty and worked with me to make sure I passed her class. God Bless her family and know she was loved by her students.

My deepest, sincerest condolences to Ms. Pontones' family members. Ms. Pontones taught me Spanish in my junior year at South High. Spanish was fun in her class & I've retained what I learned. She was a dedicated & exceptional teacher. I actually saw her some years back at South while I was visiting. She looked exactly the same. Her hair was still long except, it was all white. I was sad to know she passed. She will never be forgotten.

Tengo Exito. I am successful. This is the first Spanish phrase I learned from you on my first day as a freshman I'm 1982. You were the best teacher, mentor, and friend. Rest in peace sweet lady. I'll never forget you.
