Obituary

Michael Edward Nestor passed from his earthly life suddenly Friday March 18, 2016. Mike was born August 5, 1960 in Columbus, Ohio to F. Paul and Marie A. Nestor. He attended elementary school at St. Helen’s in Saginaw, MI, and Our Lady of Victory in Columbus, OH. He graduated from New London HS, New London, OH, in 1979 where he was both an outstanding scholar and athlete. He excelled in Football, Basketball, Cross Country and Track & Field. He attended and received his Degree in Accounting from The Ohio State University in 1983. A devoted Buckeye and fan, Mike served several years as President of the Ohio State Alumni Association of northwest Ohio. Mike’s professional accounting career was with the national accounting firms Ernst & Young, Arthur Anderson and Deloitte in Toledo , OH; Charlotte, NC; Cincinnati, OH and Cleveland, OH. At the time of his passing, Mike was a Partner and Tax Director with Deloitte and a Multistate leader for their Cleveland office where he was known for his infectious energy, friendliness and humor, and as an outstanding coach and mentor for which he received the Deloitte Quest Award.
Mike was highly respected and dearly loved by his co-workers, clients, family and his many friends. Michael was an active member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church of Westlake, OH.
He is preceded in earthly death by his Mother, Marie A. (Abbruzzese) Nestor; Uncles, William E. and Thomas J. (Margaret) Nestor; Maternal Grandparents, Nicholas and Valeria (Lena) Abbruzzese; Paternal Grandparents, Francis E. and Elizabeth Marie (Day) Nestor; Uncle and Aunt, John L. and Paula Slupski. Michael is survived by his Father, F. Paul Nestor, Zanesville OH; Brothers, Kevin (Paula), Mansfield OH; Christopher, Columbus OH and Tobin (Christine) Nestor, Zanesville OH; Aunt, Phyliss Buchanan, Columbus OH; Uncle and Aunt, Richard and Darlaine Nestor, Norwalk OH and Aunt, Margaret Nestor, New London OH; and his cherished family of Nieces and Nephews, Melissa Nestor, Lexington KY; Allison (Christopher) March, Portland OR; Stephanie Nestor, Dallas TX; Kaitlyn Nestor, Franklin KY; Garrett Nestor, Snellville GA; Cara Nestor, Akron OH; Paul M. Nestor, Indianapolis, IN; Madison Landkrohn and Nicholas Nestor, Zanesville OH.
Michael has been an important part of the lives of numerous cousins, relatives, and friends. Visitation will be Monday, March 28, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West 5th Ave., Columbus OH (with a Prayer Service at 7:45 p.m.). Family and friends are asked to gather on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 for the funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., in Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel (within the grounds of St. Joseph Cemetery), 6440 S. High St., Lockbourne, OH. Rev. Fr. Martin J. Ralko, pastor of St. Nicholas Parish, Zanesville, Ohio, serving as the Presider. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Commemorative gifts may be made in the name of Michael E. Nestor to the NLHS Athletic Booster Club, 1 Wildcat Dr., New London OH 44851 or to Matthew’s Lending Library, 15528 Madison Ave., Lakewood OH 44107.
