Obituary

Maria C. Schiele (nee Sicilian) age 92, went home to be with the Lord and his loving, protective angels on May 3, 2005. She was cared for by the dedicated staff at Westminster Thurber Community Nursing Home. Maria was born to Chester and Mary Sicilian on May 29, 1912 in Corning, OH. Preceded in death by her loving husband Robert L. and her parents. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Roberta Maria Francesca Valentina Von Schiele of Palo Alto, CA., sister Isadora McDonald, many nieces, nephews and cousins. My dear mother was a legend in her own time. She touched people near and far, literally speaking, as a spirited, beautiful, caring, sweet and intelligent woman, full of “joie de vivre”. That she was! Recognized in the world as a glamorous show girl with movie star qualities, an operatic voice and linguist. Her talents also included being an outstanding, world tour guide to those who cherished her and her valuable expertise. Memorial Service Saturday, May 7, 2005 at 11:00 AM, Westminster Thurber Community Chapel, 717 Neil Ave. Inurnment to take place at the Golden Gate National Cemetery San Bruno, CA., where she will rest next to her husband, Robert. In lieu of flowers friends may contribute in Maria's honor to the Alzheimer's Association of Central Ohio, 3380 Tremont Rd.
