Obituary

Linda B. Zoretic died peacefully at home on January 12, 2024 in Columbus, Ohio at the age of 89. Linda was married to the late Edward L. Zoretic and is survived by their 4 children; Ann Zoretic Ansel, Daniel (Becky), Amy (Mark) Maggard and Pete (Monika). Linda was born on September 7, 1934, in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Daniel and Edna Brushart. Along with her older sister Patsy, Linda grew up in Portsmouth and graduated from Holy Redeemer High School in 1952. She continued her education at the Mercy School of Nursing, graduating in 1955. That year she also married Edward of Bobtown, PA. In 1962, they relocated their family to Grandview Heights, Ohio where they lived on 2nd Ave for 42 years. Linda was a homemaker while her children were young, and then worked as an Occupational Nurse for Columbus and Southern Electric for 20 years. After retirement, Linda and Ed enjoyed snow birding in Stuart, Florida, where she enjoyed a new community of friends, going to the beach, and playing bridge. She also volunteered with numerous organizations throughout her life, including St. Christopher Parish, Boy Scouts, the Red Cross, the Mercy Hospital Nurses Alumni Association, the Ladies Guild Athletic Club, and others. She loved holidays and entertaining, including her annual tradition of setting up coffee and molasses cookies for parents during trick-or-treat. Linda was always the heart of the party, ensuring everyone felt welcome and taking time to chat with everyone in attendance. She was also an avid reader, letter writer, and traveler. Her thoughtfulness was unmatched, and her family could always count on her to cut newspaper clippings about their interests and hobbies. Linda was the matriarch of her family, enjoying 67 years of marriage to Ed and being "Nana" to 12 grandchildren and "Great-Nana" to 14 great-grandchildren. She was always there to listen and to give advice, never with a harsh word and always with a wonderful smile. Many thanks to our wonderful team of caregivers and caring Hospice team. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan 16, 2024 at the John Quint Treboni Funeral Home from 4-7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wed Jan 17, 2024 at St. Christopher Parish, 1420 Grandview Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43212 at 10 am. A procession to St. Joseph Cemetery 6440 S. High Street Lockbourne, Ohio 43137 will follow. To leave a condolence visit www.johnquint.com

My deepest sympathies your entire family. I have such sweet memories of Linda dating back to when she worked the St. Chris cafeteria for lunches, collecting our milk money as we went through the line, speaking to each of us in a way to make us feel special, and wearing knee socks! Never saw mothers wearing knee socks, which made her the coolest one. She sent me notes throughout the years for things I had accomplished. What a gift she was to all who knew her. Sending much love to you during this time.

As an elderly care provider for Linda I knew this day would come but it still never prepares you for the loss we feel when it does. Linda was incredibly sentimental and collected newspapers, magazines and other memorabilia over the years and share them with others, she still enjoyed writing letters to friends, she donated to several charities and believed wholeheartedly she would be a winner in the Publisher Clearing House Sweepstakes! Eloquent, humorous, compassionate, patient and selfless, so many endearing qualities she possessed and I will remember her and her family fondly for entrusting me with the task of caring for her and Ed which was a privilege. May her sweet soul forever rest in peace. "Framily" xo

Thinking of all of you now and in the days ahead. Hoping peace gently comes to your hearts. With deepest condolences. I will also add that my late husband, Brian, worked with your mother at Columbus and Southern. He always had nice things to say about her and thought she was a very empathetic nurse.

Wow, I loved seeing the video of your mom and all the family. What a legacy she created...such a beautiful family. Looking back when she was young and so beautiful, it makes you realize how fleeting life is. I see Ann and Amy in her. I didn't know your brothers, but I know you were all so devoted to your parents. Your dad was quite handsome too! I am happy I got to meet them, they were spunky and fun. The last time was at your OSU/Michigan parties. Seeing all the grand children and all the wonderful family was heartwarming. I know it is so hard to say that final goodbye, but know she is with your dad. I wish I was there for you now Amy. love you dear friend.

I watched the video and so enjoyed seeing Linda and Ed and the family. They were a great couple, and I was honored to be their pastor for 12 years. Pur after mass trips to the donut shop on 3rd are a cherished memory. Sadly, most of them have gone to glory. I'll always be grateful for my friendship with Linda and Ed. I regret I can't make the funeral- I have a committal at St Joseph cemetery at the same time - maybe we'll see each other. My prayers and condolences go out to all the family. May Linda and Ed rest in peace.
