Obituary
Kristina M Richards, age 25, of Worthington, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on November 8, 2025, in Tampa, FL. She was the beloved daughter of Michael "Tod" and Nikki Richards. She is preceded in death by great grandmothers Junita M. Richards and Anna Dean Lane, and grandparents James and Veronica Valentino. She is survived by her parents Tod and Nikki Richards, brothers Michael, Anthony, and Nicolas; fiance Collin Pierce; grandparents Sharon K and James L Richards; aunts and uncles Joe and Peggy Valentino, Nina and Chuck Kabealo, Maria and Van Lombardo, Tino Valentino and Margie Brickner, Ronni Valentino, Scott and Deana Richards, Cindy Goodman, 23 cousins and 14 second cousins. A good Italian, Kristina loved being surrounded by her large family. Her fun and joyful personality were always on display during family gatherings. The entire family is heartbroken by her loss. Her smile, contagious laugh, and fun and caring spirit will be missed by all. There are no words to define the depth of the close family bond and relationship we have shared. As a family, we hold onto the hope of heaven and know that we will see her again. Kristina was born on December 5, 1999. She attended Granby Elementary, McCord Middle, and graduated from Worthington Kilbourne High School in 2018. She desired to achieve and excelled in her schoolwork at each level. She was a 4.0 student and was recognized as a member of the National Honor Society. She participated in the Socratic Society and was granted the Silver Key and Scholar Athlete awards. She demonstrated great leadership skills and had a desire to give back to the community. She was a member of Project MORE, a reading acceleration program for at-risk elementary students. She was also a leader in Girl Talk, a program designed to help mentor girls through turbulent middle school years. Kristina was a highly skilled athlete and a fierce competitor. She loved competing in all kinds of sports against her brothers and would never back down or give in. She played basketball, softball, lacrosse, and club soccer. Soccer was her love starting at age 3 and continuing through high school as a member of the Worthington Kilbourne soccer team. She was enthusiastic about fitness and health and loved going to the gym. Kristina graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2023, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health. She held several jobs after college. Due to her love of coffee, she enjoyed being a barista at Sweetwaters coffee shop in Dublin, where she would occasionally use her artistic talent to draw and decorate a billboard in the shop. Kristina was recently engaged to the love of her life, Collin Pierce, on November 4, 2025, in Siesta Key, FL. It was one of the happiest days of her life. We thank Collin for the joy and love that he brought her, and we mourn with him at her loss and the life that should have been. Most importantly, Kristina was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend. She was a beautiful young lady who was loved by everyone. She was full of life, with a smile and cheerful personality that lit up a room. Some of her favorite things were drawing, painting, crafting, cooking, nature, sunny days, the beach, and animals of every kind. She was an avid cat lover. Her artistic ability and love for cooking and baking were traits handed down from both of her grandmothers and her mother, Nikki. She enjoyed countless joyful hours creating, crafting, and baking in the kitchen with her mom. We are grateful for every memory. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, Nov 20, 2025 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 6899 Smoky Row Rd, Columbus, Ohio 43235 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Kristina Maria Richards Memorial Fund, c/o The Catholic Foundation, 257 E Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215 or Colony Cats Adoption 2740 Festival Ln. Hi, I'm a frequent customer of Sweetwaters. I would first like to offer my heartfelt condolences and sympathy to your family. Kristina was a wonderful person and it always brightened my day to see her in the morning. She knew my coffee order as soon as I walked in and we'd have some lighthearted conversation together. Over the past few years, we slowly got to know each other more through these small talks; especially with our affinity for cats. I remember asking her something (I believe it was a tattoo) through which we both ended up excitedly sharing pictures of our pet cats on our phone screens. We'd ask each other how they were doing and share more cute cat pictures, as cat owners always do whenever they get the chance. We were also both going through physical therapy and would joke around, turning it into something to laugh about. It changed my way of thinking, knowing that there was someone else in a similar situation while still keeping a positive attitude.
I was just a regular customer, but the truth is these small talks added up into something that was meaningful. Kristina was a source of happiness and countless smiles for those around her - myself included. My heart goes out to your family... for I hope this message reminds you that Kristina's impact on this world was felt by many and will not soon be forgotten.

I had been starting my day off countless mornings at Sweetwater and Kristina was often the first person I see. I usually arrived first. Kristina always welcomed me with a good morning and her smile. She did the same for everyone. Whether you were a regular or not. When she had a free moment, we would chat about any and everything. There are no words that can totally express the sorrow you, her family, are experiencing. But please know she touched so many lives in the best possible way. I’m so glad to have had this beautiful person enter my life. God bless you all.

I met Kristina while working at Sweetwaters in Bridgepark, I still remember the first day I met her because I was not feeling good and she made sure to take care of me and help me! Kristina always made me feel seen! Having recently moved to Dublin from Florida I hadn’t made any friends until I met Kristina, I was so alone and sad but she went on walks with me, and made sure I felt included! She was there for me when I had gotten some bad news about my health and she offered some encouraging words and even checked on me post surgery! Kristina would watch my pets for me when I would travel back to Florida. I knew she was reliable and I could trust her with my babies, and she never let me down! What an amazing friend to have I will always remember her and everything she did, she was a very bright light!! I will miss her sweet smile and her gentle and kind words!!! Sending all her family so much love, thank you for sharing Kristina with us!!

I am deeply saddened at the loss of such a beautiful soul - inside and out. Like others, I am a regular at Sweetwaters. Kristina greeted me by name and knew my order. We had a connection immediately. I have a daughter with the same name. We chatted about so many things over the past few years. She was as lovely as they come. She greeted everyone with a smile that made their day. I am so very sorry for your loss and will miss her terribly.

We shared a silly name for each other since your early days of childhood, "Shoo Bug." An annoying bug that wouldn't leave us alone became an affectionate name that we consistently used to address each other. It always made my heart smile to hear you say, "hey, Shoo Bug."
I hope that there aren't any annoying bugs in heaven, but every time I brush one away I will affectionately think of you and the silly name and memory that we shared.
I love you. Forever in my heart.

My heart is broken to hear of Kristina’s passing. I fondly remember playdates in kindergarten at our house and yours with Lance and Kristina. I still picture her in the little scout uniform on our back patio after school. There are no words to express our sorrow for your loss. I hope you will have comfort and peace knowing how much she contributed to her family, friends and community. I have been watching for her obituary and just saw this today. Ironically, I sat in my car waiting for a funeral procession to pass this afternoon while on Powell Rd. I said a prayer for the person to rest in peace. I feel that it may have been Kristina’s procession.
