Obituary

Karen Eileen (Luke) Scialabba, age 82, passed away May 1, 2026 at Riverside Methodist Hospital (Columbus, Ohio). Karen was born on July 6, 1943 in Shadyside, Ohio to William and Sophia (Gangl) Luke. She grew up in the Ohio River Valley with her parents and older siblings Hazel and Bill and younger siblings Claude, Sue, and Jim. She graduated a proud Tiger from Shadyside High School in 1961, and for many years, attended the annual school reunion. Upon graduation, she worked around the valley at The Ziegenfelder Company (Wheeling, WV) and Bethany College (Bethany, WV). She left the valley for Columbus where she settled down and started a career at Nationwide where she met Marion, her husband of 55 years. She was Granma to Adam who she affectionately referred to as her "little boy" and would debate football with on Sundays. She loved Sunday dinners with family and traveling and was always planning her next trip (Hawaii anyone?). She also sponsored overseas children in need through the Unbound organization. Karen is survived by her sister, Sue Morelli; her brothers, Claude (Diane) Luke and Jim (Terry) Luke; her two sons, Mark (Lisa) and John (Kristin); and her beloved grandson Adam. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Sophia Luke; her husband, Marion; her sister, Hazel (Dale) Hoyt; and her brother, Bill (Marce) Luke. A visitation will be held on Wednesday May 6, 2026 at John Quint Treboni FH 1177 W 5th Ave Columbus, Ohio 43212 from 4-7 pm and A Celebration of Life will take place Thursday May 7, 2026 at noon followed by a procession for entombment at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, consider donating blood as Karen received many units of blood during her medical battles or a donation to the American Cancer Society as she battled multiple myeloma later in life. Consider traveling somewhere nice too! To leave a condolence or for link to make a donation please visit www.johnquint.com
