John Joseph Ciardelli, Sr. was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He passed away peacefully at his son, Rick's house on February 26, 2026, at the age of 94. He was born on September 28, 1931 in the Flytown neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio to Valente Guiseppe and Argia (Casa) Ciardelli, the seventh of ten children. John was preceded in death by his parents, his treasured wife of 70 years, Juanita (Chadwick), brothers Mario, Valentino (Margaret), Santino, Carl (Betty), and sisters Norma Reeves (LeRoy), Jessie Hill, Dina Pallone (Dominic), Alida Walters (Paul) and brother-in-law Bob Stevens. His family was at the heart of everything John did. He is leaving behind his children John Joseph Ciardelli, Jr, Toni Wickham (Jim), Mario Ciardelli (Marilyn), Richard Ciardelli, and Joseph Ciardelli (Ann); his grandchildren Amy Brogan, Brandy Brogan, John Joseph Ciardelli III (Andrea), Todd Ciardelli (Valerie), Natalie Ciardelli, Richard Ciardelli II, Andrew Ciardelli (Erica), Anthony Ciardelli (Tabi), Chelsea Ciardelli (Ryan Abelman), and Samantha Ciardelli. Also surviving John are his sister Jeanette Stevens, 21 great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. John had a full life, and he was passionate about many things, including golf, golf trips, travel, playing cards, playing the ponies at Scioto Downs, cooking, and Fortissimo (if you know, you know). John played golf until his 94th birthday and often shot his age. The stories about him on golf trips are legendary. John shared his passion for cooking with his children, and he taught them all how to make spaghetti sauce. Every one of them thinks their sauce is the best, but deep down, they all know Dad's was unbeatable. John's greatest passion was his family. He loved Juanita with all his heart for their 70 years of marriage. He was the best husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and greeted everyone with a smile and a big hug. John was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. He was a member of many clubs, including the Guild Athletic Club, St. Francis Seniors, Amici d'Oro, and the Flytown Club. John and Juanita were long time members of the St. Francis Seniors and enjoyed many trips and had many good friends through the club. Though he will be deeply missed, John leaves behind a legacy of unwavering love, laughter, and good food, which is an enduring testament to a life lived with purpose and heart. Visitation will be Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 4-7 pm, with a GAC/Flytown service at 6 pm at John Quint Treboni FH, 1177 W 5th Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43212.
