Obituary
John R. Cardinal, age 78, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Riverside Hospital, after a short illness. He was born on January 23, 1935, in Canton, OH, where he was a member of Timken Vocational High School, Class of 1953. He served two years as an SP4 in the United States Army in the 10th Engineer Battalion in Germany . He was a proud cum laude graduate of The Ohio State University, graduating in 1986 after attending night school for 14 years. An avid bowler and card player, he also enjoyed logic puzzles, golf, had a fondness for old-time serials, and was a fan of Notre Dame and OSU. However, his greatest joy and love was his family. He was preceded in death by his parents Angeline and James, and his brother, Frank. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 49 years, Mary; daughter, Theresa (Tim) Myers; sons Jim and Tom; brother, Albert “Tootles” Silvestri; numerous nieces and nephews; and his cherished granddaughters, Josie and Jamie. I am so sad to hear of Mr. Cardinal's passing. I knew you both from the Homework Help Center at the library. I remember his first day volunteering with us when he showed up with a briefcase filled with notebook paper and a ruler. He was a really great math helper to the students!! My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
