Obituary

John E. Belli Jr a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 14, 1959, in Columbus, Ohio, John was the cherished first son of John E. Belli Sr. and Margaret (Brennan) Belli. He is predeceased by his father John and his paternal grandparents, Augusto and Lucy Belli, as well as his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Sebastiana Brennan. John's life was one of love, service, and craftsmanship. He was a 1978 graduate of Westerville North High School and continued his education at The Ohio State University. In 1982, John answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Marine Corps and deploying during Operation Desert Storm. His dedication and leadership were evident as he proudly served until 1995, achieving the rank of Sergeant. John's time in the Marine Corps instilled in him a sense of discipline and honor that he carried throughout his life. Following his military service, John found his true calling as a carpenter. His talent and passion for construction led him to a successful career spanning 30 plus years, most recently with Ruscilli Construction Company. John's skill included detailed finish carpentry, a testament to his artistic spirit and meticulous nature. John's warmth and generosity extended far beyond his professional life. He was a fabulous cook, renowned for his Italian dishes lovingly prepared alongside his brother Joe. Family gatherings were enriched by his culinary talents, where the joy of sharing a meal was as important as the food itself. A man of simple pleasures, John found joy in flowers and gardens, particularly those he lovingly nurtured for his mother. His gardens were a reflection of his gentle soul and his appreciation for the earth's small gifts, leaving a lasting legacy of beauty and love. John's memory will forever be cherished by his mother, Margaret Belli of Worthington, and his devoted brothers, Michael (Julie) of Marysville, and Peter and Joseph Belli of Columbus. He leaves behind a loving family, including nieces Marcela Belli and Alicia Judy, nephews Nick, Michael (Megan), Eric (Mikayla), and Corey Belli, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will always remember him for his warm smile, kind heart, and spirited nature. In honor of John's memory, contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or a charity of your choice. His life was a testament to the power of kindness, generosity, and love, and he will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know him. The family will welcome friends Friday July 17, 2026 from 6-8 pm for a Celebration of John's life at John Quint Treboni Funeral Home, 1177 W. 5th Ave. Columbus Ohio 43212. John will be laid to rest on Saturday July 18, 2026 at 11 am at Resurrection Cemetery. A graveside service will follow the private chapel service which will include Military Funeral Honors.
