Obituary
Joanna (Giovanna Salvadore) Lumbaca, age 78, went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2024 at home, following a prolonged battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Joanna was born on August 1, 1946 to the late Franco Salvadore and Caterina Lipari in Santa Lucia del Mela, Sicily. She graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School in 1965 and began working for the Credit Bureau of Columbus. In October of 1969 she met the love of her life and two months later they were married and started their wonderful family. Joanna was the original bookkeeper of the Italian Body Shop, now known as IBS Collision Center, from 1981-2000. Joanna was a special woman, loving wife, caring mother, beloved Nonna, and a friend to all. She was happiest when her house was full of family and friends. Joanna was selfless, putting others before herself, and loved dancing, traveling, and socializing. Her grandchildren’s most treasured memories include trips to the zoo, singing lullabies at night, pasta with pesto anytime, being her "Gioa della Nonna," sleepovers, cappuccinos and cookies, Nutella in espresso cups, always being asked if you're hungry and being encouraged to eat, swimming in the pool with her, getting ice cream and playing at the park with her. Joanna is survived by and will be forever missed by her loving husband of 55 years, Joseph Lumbaca; children, Maria Rosa (Dino) D'Amore, Rocco (Marissa) Lumbaca, Alessandro (Leah) Lumbaca; grandchildren, Michela, Rocco, and Marina D'Amore, Rocco, Mia, Christian, and Alina Lumbaca; great-granddaughter, Raine D'Amore; siblings Domenico (Franca) Salvadore, Venera (Francesco) Coppolino, and Joseph Salvadore; brother-in-law, Rocco Lumbaca; lifelong friend Marie (Spada) Johnson; and countless nieces, nephews, and dear friends. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Amshawu, Everline, Nasra, Shana, and Yodit, whose dedication and compassion made a profound difference in Joanna's life. Friends and family may call on Monday, December 9, 2024 at the John Quint Treboni Funeral Home, 1177 W. 5th Ave. Columbus, Ohio 43212 from 4-7 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 720 Hamlet St. Columbus, Ohio 43215. Friends and family are asked to meet at the church. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 9571 N. High St. Lewis Center, Ohio 43035.

I remember Joanna from the years we worked together at the Credit Bureau of Columbus many years ago. She was a joy to work with. The last time I saw her was in the Lazarus Santa Christmas department. I am sure she will always be missed. I will remember Joanna in my prayers.

Im so sorry that my family hasnt seen Joanna in a while due to my mom’s health issues. I remember the last conversation that I had with Joanna. She was telling me about this fascinating book that she was reading on angels and saints. We both enjoyed stories like that, of overcoming and miracles. My heart is happy that now she can hear those types of stories directly from the sources. She’s among good company with them, looking down on us and just wishing we could know what she knows now- about God’s tremendous love for her friends and family. She will be dearly missed!

Joanna’s light shined as brightly as a beacon for all that knew her, her heart welcomed all that would allow her and both of these still remain within all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Keep her memory close as I’m certain she is watching over you now with more love in her heart as she finds peace.
May you find peace and comfort in knowing that she is with God 💛
