Obituary

Jeanne Kellison Herlihy, 56, of Columbus, formerly of Chillicothe, died on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from a sudden stroke. She is survived by her seven siblings: Christie (William) Starr of Marlborough, MA; Mary (Roberto) Roca of Madrid, Spain; John (Amy Jones) Herlihy of Charlotte, NC; Joseph Herlihy of Chillicothe; Barbara (Kenneth) Johnson of Rocky Face, GA, James (Kim Weber) Herlihy of Grandview, and David (Leah Haney) Herlihy of San Pedro, CA. Jeanne is survived by 24 nieces and nephews: Jason (Keira Sheehan), James (Elizabeth Jones), Jon and Julia Starr; Natalia, Anne and Santiago Roca; John Daniel, Elizabeth and Caitlin (Harris Hickman) Herlihy; Joseph, Michael and Isaac Herlihy; Sarah, Katherine and Kenneth Johnson; John, Margaret, Mary and Molly Herlihy; Lucy, Elizabeth, David Jr. and Katherine Herlihy. She is also survived by great-nieces Kelsey and Lily Starr and great-nephew Aidan Starr. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents John D. and Barbara Stark Herlihy.

Jeanne was born August 31, 1966 in Chillicothe, the sixth of eight children. She was the heart of the Herlihy family, known for her joyful hugs. She was the one who kept relatives around the globe informed on the latest personal news and lovingly signed her long scrolling texts "your sweet sister Jeanne." Jeanne loved people. She was unafraid to ask personal questions that soon turned strangers into friends. She bagged groceries at both Big Bear in Chillicothe and Kroger in Columbus. She recently enjoyed working at Krispy Kreme in Reynoldsburg and was proud to bring six-packs of donuts to friends and family. Customers knew her and she knew her customers. Everyone knew her birthday which she loved to celebrate, and she reminded people of it many months in advance. Somehow family and neighbors in Grandview always managed to pull off a surprise birthday celebration which usually lasted several days. She was well versed in Ohio State, Notre Dame and Clemson football, often making family sports bets, but she most loved rooting for her nieces and nephews at their games. She enjoyed bingo, going out to dinner, and traveling to Nashville on a recent trip with friends. She cherished visiting siblings across the country and Spain and was known for always asking family to pose for photographs. She was the source of many favorite family stories.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 1-4 pm at the John Quint Treboni Funeral Home, 1177 W 5th Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43212. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 21, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 1559 Roxbury Rd, Columbus, Ohio 43212 at 10am with Rev. William Metzger, celebrant, and Deacon Rob Joseph. A dinner celebration of Jeanne’s life will be held at 5PM Monday at Our Lady of Victory Parish Center. Burial will be the following day, Tuesday, at 11:00 am, St. Margaret's Cemetery, 500 Worthington Ave, Chillicothe, Ohio 45601. Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com

I went to vocational school with Jeanne, and she was one of the sweetest girls I met. I recall being the recipient of one of those great hugs while getting off the bus at school. I'm so happy she led such a full life and had so many who loved her. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I just wanted to say we all miss you here at work. You was the best part of the day and as soon as it started getting closer to 8 o’clock I would watch the door and just wait for you. You always came in with the biggest smile, and had so much stuff to tell me. Nothing is the same around here since you’ve been gone, your smile really brightened up this place. I’ll never forget the day I met you. You instantly started a conversation with me telling me all about your family. That’s mainly all you ever talked about but I enjoyed our conversations. I will never forget you mrs Jeanne. I will always keep your smile in my head and you in my heart. Fly night beautiful.

Jeanne was a member of the Ymca in Reynodlsburg and we loved serving her there. She was a personal client of mine and recieved training for quite some time prior to me. She would always enter the building with a big smile on her face, ready to participate in any challenge I had for her. She was honest and tough, committed and always was a great conversationalist. We at the Y really do miss her and pray she has found peace and rest.
