Obituary
Janice B. Pardi, age 74, went home to be with the Holy Spirit on March 18, 2013, at Kobacker House after a courageous struggle with lung cancer. Jan was born on January 14, 1939 to Veronica and Robert Breckel in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from Maine Township High School she attended The University of Illinois, School of Pharmacy where she met her loving husband, Jim, of 53 years. After raising her family she returned to school and graduated Summa cum Laude in Education from The Ohio State University in 1988, where she was a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and Pi Lambda Theta. Jan worked for the Columbus Public School system, teaching adult education where she influenced many lives and perpetuated the love of learning with her students. Upon retirement she assisted Jim with his Worthington dental practice, as office manager, until they both retired. Her favorite activities were reading, playing scrabble with Jim, planning family travel trips, designing jewelry, playing bridge with lifelong friends, and weekends at the Lake. She was a 44 year member of the St. Timothy Parish in Columbus. During that time she was involved in countless committees, organizations and other volunteer efforts to promote the parish and school. Jan was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Known as “Grammy” to her grandchildren she is survived by her husband Jim; children, Kathleen (Thomas) Riebock, Laura (Michael) Colwell, James (Margaret) Pardi, and Michael (Kimberly) Pardi; and her 11 grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Norman (Kathy )Breckel; and her sister, Mary (Peter) Gallagher; along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Robert J. Breckel Jr. Those of us remaining realize how blessed we are to have had her in our lives, and can find great comfort in knowing she will continue to be our guardian angel. She will be missed greatly by all. Friends may call between 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43212 (with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.). Friends and family are asked to meet at the church for her funeral Mass on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St Timothy Catholic Church, 1088 Thomas Lane, Columbus, Ohio 43220, Father Timothy Hayes, presiding. The burial is to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute to St. Timothy Catholic School c/o the Jan Pardi Memorial Fund. Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com.

What an amazing blessing for the entire Pardi family to have shared so many years of your lives with such a fantastic and wonderful woman as Jan. She was a loving mother and special Grammy. I am sadden to hear of the loss of your wife. Loosing anyone we love is difficult. But we know that our loss is only temporary.
Jesus said: ȁCI am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.ȁD - John 11:25
The Bible teaches that the dead will live again.
Jesus Christ himself said: ȁCDo not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.ȁD - John 5:28, 29
May you keep these thoughts and promises close to your heart.
Your friend,
Chris Wahl

Dr. Jim, Jimmy, and Mike,
I will never forget when I started teaching at St. Tims in 1979. I inherited the most confusing Science Program ever! But Jan saved the day! Without her gentle, yet firm, assistance, I don't think I would have made it through my first few years as a middle school science teacher! I owe so much to her! What a blessing she was to me, and I know to all of you as well! She will be greatly missed by the entire St. Timothy Family!
Peace and Prayers be with you, and with all your family!
