Obituary

James William Chakeres, 92, Thursday, December 21, 2006. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on January 16, 1914 to William and Angela Chakeres. He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary Rose. He is survived by children, Elaine(William)Mateyka of Richmond, VA., Constance Morgan of Irvine, CA., John(Holly) Chakeres of Columbus, OH.; grandchildren, Andrea(Reginald) James, Edward(Sara)Mateyka, Peter Mateyka and Elizabeth Chakeres; great-grandchildren, Anthony and Jason James. He was co-founder, vice-president and later president of the Chakeres Ohio Food Fixture Company. He was an auxiliary policeman(WWII); lifetime member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation; member of the Luther B.Turner Masonic Lodge No. 732, the Shriners and a member of the Ohio Restaurant Association & recipient of its lifetime achievement award. Jim was also an avid supporter of his beloved Buckeyes. Friends may call WEDNESDAY, January 3rd, 2007 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, from 4:00-8:00 PM with the Trisagion Service at 7:30 PM. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM on THURSDAY, January 4th, 2007 at Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation, 555 N. High Street.Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, 3349 Olentangy River Road.In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Jim, may make contributions to the Annunciation Cathedral or a charity of their choice.
