Obituary

Heather Marie Faehnle, 22, of Columbus, went home to be with the Lord this weekend and is resting peacefully in His arms.
Heather was born June 27, 1987 in Columbus, Ohio to Jim and Ruthie (Hollaway) Faehnle, who reside in Columbus. Her older brother, Ryan J., and his wife, Emily Faehnle reside in Cincinnati. A 2005 graduate of Hilliard-Davidson High School, where she was a member of the volleyball and basketball teams. Heather began her college career and played volleyball for Marietta College, then transferred and earned a degree in Sociology/Criminology at The Ohio State University, graduating magna cum laude. Heather enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard in August 2006 and developed a strong commitment to the military. She was promoted to rank of sergeant and was a member of the Ohio National Guard's Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and High-Yield Explosive Enhanced Response Force (CERF) and had just completed a training mission in Israel for the Israeli Army. We want you to remember Heather for many reasons, most of all for her love, compassion, and total selflessness for family, friends, and hurting people. Her passion for animals and love for her dog, Zorro, led to employment at Avery Animal Hospital. Heather also had a love of sports and had natural athletic ability. Heather is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Carl and Mary Ann Faehnle and Carl's second wife, Ruth McGovern Faehnle. Heather is survived by maternal grandparents, William H. and Iretta Hollaway of Waldo, aunts and uncles Carl J. (Judy) Faehnle, Mary Lou (Ron) Dury, Susan (Greg) Good, Cheryl (John) Rupp, Bill (Marilyn) Hollaway, Lisa Hollaway, and many cousins. Her best friend, Katie Baxter, meant the world to Heather. Friends may call WEDNESDAY, February 3, 2010 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, from 4:00-8:00 PM. Funeral will be held 11:00 AM on THURSDAY, February 4, 2010 at Dublin Baptist Church, 7195 Coffman Road, Dublin, Ohio, Pastor Darrel Gabbard, Officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 South High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio. Military rites will be observed, and pallbearers will include her fellow comrades. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute in memory of Heather to the Capital Area Humane Society, 3015 Scioto-Darby Executive Court, Hilliard Ohio 43026. Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com.

Dear Ruthie, Jim, and family,
I just wanted to send my thoughts and prayers to you as you deal with an unbelievable loss. I am awestruck, so I cannot begin to believe what you all must be feeling. It is an incredibly unfair cross to bear.

I wanted to send you a few memories of Heather that I have. When you moved to Hillard when Heather was in 6th grade, we became immediate friends. She was an "super" tom boy at that time, and I loved her spunk and marveled at her athletic abilities. I was honored to be chosen as a friend. Heather lit up a room then, and all through high school. She was determined, bright, and witty. She was the best person to share your deepest, darkest secrets with. Heather never judged me, but lifted me up and encouraged me. I remember at UNC basketball camp, Heather and sitting at a table on our own, talking about life ambitions. 5 minutes later, we were running around the hotel room with our hair to the the side and our pants up to our chest.

I want you to know, Ruthie and Jim, that you raised an amazing daughter. Whenever I think of her, I smile. She touched my young life in ways that I have never fully realized.

I hope that God is able to reach you all and help you in ways that you could never imagine. My heart is with you. May you find the strength and healing that only our Savior can provide.

I am so sad for you and your family ,I remember Heather as a little girl ,she was so full of spunk and very cute and oh so smart.I will always remember the time when she was about three years old and she locked me out of the Hollaway bathroom,I had to talk to her to please let me in ,she had fun pulling a prank on me that day.Through Lisa I was fortunate to keep up with Heather's life and career, she accomplished more in her short life then most people do in a lifetime.I know you will miss her so much ,may she rest in peace in gods loving arms.
Love ,
Anne

I would like to offer my condolences for the loss of yor loved one. Did you know the Bible assures us:"Jehovah is near to those that are broken at heart;and those who are crushed in spirit he saves."(Psalms 34:18)Yes,more than anything else, a relationship with God can help you cope with the death of someone you love. How? All practical suggestions offered thus far have been based on or in harmony with God's Word, the Bible.Applying them can help you cope. In addition,do not underestimate the value of prayer. The Bible urges us:"Throw yoour burdens upon Jehovah himself, and he himself will sustain you."(Psalm 55:22)If talking out your feelings with a sympathetic friend can help, how much more will pouring out your heart to "the God of all comfort"help you-2Corinthians 1:3
