Obituary

Gildo Joseph Guzzo, aka Junior, age 79, passed away peacefully at home February 16, 2011. He was born on March 4, 1931 to the late Gildo, Sr. and Angeline Guzzo(Landoni) in Columbus, Ohio. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Judy; his seven children: Joseph (Marian), David (Debra), Andrew, Christine, Robert Davis (Suzanne), Vincent (Peggy), & Michael Davis (Kim); 12 grandchildren; his sisters, Mary & Margaret and his brothers, John & Michael; many nieces and nephews, including his godchild, Suzanne Hall; and his faithful pet and companion, Millie. Preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia; his son, Thomas; his infant daughter, Kathleen; his brother Carl and his sister Joanne. Junior was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Ohio University. He served as a Lieutenant in the US Army Corp of Engineers & loved to tell his army stories. Junior was the President of Complete General Construction Company, a past President of the Columbus Chapter of the Ohio Contractors Association, and a member of various industry specific boards. He was an avid golfer and a member of Worthington Hills Country Club and Wildcat Run Country Club; Junior was a passionate Gin player & loved an afternoon of card playing with his buddies. He will be missed by his family, his many friends, and his colleagues, all of whom respected, appreciated and loved him. Friends may call SUNDAY February 20, 2011 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, for a Celebration of Joe's Life from 4:00-7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM on MONDAY February 21, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 6899 Smokey Row Road, Columbus, Ohio, Rev. Fr. Justin J. Reis, Presider. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute in memory of Joe to a charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com.

I would like to express my condolences to the entire family especially on behalf of my deceased father, D. Ralph Church. I believe it was Gildo's father who inspired the OCA convention in Rome in 1973, which was my first step to an adult life in Italy.
