Gildo "Chic" Ciccone, age 88, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at First Community Village. "Chic" left his senior year in high school to enlist in the Navy during WW II, however, many years later, he was awarded an honorary diploma from Grandview Heights High School. He began his working career by assuming the manager's position for the family businesses, the Ciccone Market and the Knotty Pine. He later retired from American Bakeries and Roche Labs. He was a longtime blood donor, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council # 12900 and a volunteer at Our Lady of Victory Parish where he was also a member. He is preceded in death by his wife, Charlene (Hall) Ciccone; brother, James; and sister, Louise Cardenell. He is survived by his children, Jodi Fortner, Nicholas Ciccone, Maria (Jerry) Waybright and Annette (Doug) Hale; grandchildren, Sara Nelson and Matthew Fortner; great-granddaughter, Niah Gleason; and many nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends on Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 2-6 p.m., at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus (with a Prayer Service at 5:45 p.m.). Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 28, 2015 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 1559 Roxbury Road (Marble Cliff), with the Rev. Msgr. Romano Ciotola as the Presider. Burial to follow, St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne. The family wishes to thank the staff of First Community Village for their help and support in caring for "Chic."
