Obituary

Fred Clem, age 91,died on Monday, March 31, 2003 at Arbors at Hilliard Health Care Center.

He was Born January 30, 1912 in Grays Knob, Ky, where he began his adult life working in the coal mines. He served in the U.S. Army during World War ll and was awarded the Bronze Star for rescuing two comrades while under fire at the Battle of the Bulge.

After the war, he moved to Columbus and married the former Vinnia DiPietro. They were together for 48 years until her death on December 15, 1993.

He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and later was an independent businessman. Mr. Clem was an avid outdoorsman who introduced many friends and family members to the enjoyment of hunting and fishing. He was a member of the SFI Lodge.

He was also preceded in death by his parents John and Nancy(Ledford)Clem, four sisters and four brothers. He is survived by sons; John (Rose) Clem of Plain City, Ohio and Fred Clem of Hilliard, Ohio, grand daughters; Anna(Manish)Badhwar of Bellvue, Ohio and Lora (Steve Hughes) Clem of Olympia Washington. He is also survived his sister Lillie Chancey of Columbus, Ohio and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family may call at the John Quint & Sons Funeral Home, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, on Thursday April 3, 2003 from 4:00-8:00 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 pm on Friday, April 04, 2003 at the Our Mother of Sorrows,within the St. Joseph Cemetery,6440 S. High Street, Rev. Fr. Thomas Shonebarger, Celebrant.

THERE WILL BE NO PROCESSION FROM THE FUNERAL HOME.

In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2536 S. US Highway 421, Harlan, KY 40831.
