Obituary

It was a glorious tribute to his undying faith, when Frank A. Oliverio, 82, departed this world early Sunday, December 14, 2008, that a brilliant pink/orange rainbow decorated the morning sky above the Select Care Hospital. For his loving daughters, ever by his side, it was a sign he had found his way to our heavenly home, and the arms of his beloved wife, Flora Jo, of 58 years, who preceded him in death by just ten months. Frank was born May 26, 1926 and raised in Carolina, West Virginia. He earned a BS in Education from Fairmont State University, Fairmont, W.Va. and a MS in Education Administration from West Virginia University, Morgantown, W.Va. He devoted over 40 years to being a teacher/administrator. He retired as the Assistant State Director for Vocational Education, State of Ohio, accomplished in managing and directing the construction of over 50 Vocational Schools/Career Centers throughout Ohio. After retiring, at 55, Frank enjoyed working part-time at Fry Waller & McCann Co. Lpa. Frank was a proud United States Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Philippines and Japan. He was a member of many professional and civic organizations; including: Jaycees, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Vocational Clubs of America (VICA), BP Order of Elks, Guild Athletic Club, and Amici D'Oro and SFI. Proud of his Italian heritage, Frank was honored to be the "first" General Chairman of The Columbus Italian Festival, sponsored by St. John the Baptist Italian Catholic Church, and establish The Father Casto Marrapesse Scholarship Fund at St. John the Baptist Italian Catholic Church. He was a Buckeye Football Fan, and served as a "Red Cap" usher for 10 seasons. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Flora; sister, Mary Rose Oliverio; parents, Joseph and Maria Oliverio. He is survived by "his three girls", who idolized him, daughters, Deborah Wayt (Greg); Mary Hazelton; and Rebecca Duncan (Dane), and his brother, Michael A. Oliverio. He was the beloved "Papa" to five grandchildren, whom he cherished: Lindsey Wayt Bohrer, Jeffrey Adam Hazelton, Abigail Duncan, Scott Michael Duncan, and Holly Hazelton. Friends may call WEDNESDAY, December 17, 2008 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, from 4:00-8:00 PM with GAC service at 6:00 PM and Catholic Prayer Service at 6:15 PM. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM on THURSDAY, December 18, 2008 at St. Anthony Catholic Church 1300 Urban Drive, Columbus, Ohio Rev. Fr. Thomas Petry, Presider.Entombment will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum 6440 S. High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio. "The girls" would like to thank the RN's, Nurse and Respiratory Technicians, at Select Care Hospital for their loving care and attention during Frank's illness. Friends who wish may contribute in memory of Frank to the Frank A. Oliverio Memorial Fund, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, Columbus Ohio 43212. Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com.

Dear Deborah, Mary, and Rebecca,
I've never met you but I remember your Mom and Dad when I was little in Fairmont. Your parents and mine were very good friends when they were all still living in Fairmont. Your parents were in my parents'(Orlando Lundix Savereno and Angie Sansalone)wedding in July 1949. I am sorry to hear of your Dad and your Mom's death previously. My Dad was good friends with Michael, your uncle, and I just saw Michael this past year.
My thoughts are with you. I lost my parents 25 years ago now. I know how hard it is.
