Obituary

Frank F. Casanta Jr. "Frankie" passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Trueman Pointe Care Center in Hilliard, Ohio. Frankie was born in January 1939 and he was destined to be a great guy. He was the son of Frank and Mary (DiPaulo) Casanta and he made them proud parents. Frankie grew up in Milo where he attended St. Peter's Elementary School and graduated high school from Columbus North. His studies at the Ohio State University were interrupted when he went into the Army. He was stationed at Fort Bragg, Texas and moved to Florida during the Cuban Crises, however his mother's prayers were answered when he phoned to tell the news that the Crisis had ended. Frankie returned home and was offered a job to sell insurance. He took the test and passed. After a few years he left the company to become a licensed Bail Bondsman in addition to becoming a business man and opened an out of town newspaper store on Spring Street where many well known people came in and bought their daily hometown newspaper. Frankie was also the President of Super Star Promotions for many years. He was well known for playing the accordion and while serving in the military he was invited by an officer to compete in the Army's National Talent Contest. He played "Lady of Spain" and won First Runner up. He could make that thing sing! When he was in the 4th grade his father had started a Little League baseball team and Frankie was a player among other boys who lived in the neighborhood. Later in life, Frankie enjoyed horseracing, owning a few and also enjoyed traveling with them around the country to watch them race. He also enjoyed golfing with his friends and was good at the game. He was a dedicated New York Yankee Baseball fan and sometimes would sit with the owner to watch the games. He was also a fan of OSU football and basketball teams. We are going to miss the stories and laughs he shared from his favorite watering hole. They will miss him greatly. Frankie was a kind and gentle guy who enjoyed being with people and always had something to give or share with them. He will be greatly missed by his sisters, Mary Lou and Diane, and his nephew Scott Rhyan. Our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the doctors and staff at Riverside hospital for their fine care, in addition we'd like to thank the staff at Trueman Pointe Healthcare. To the many friends who were always there for him, thank you for your many visits and thoughtfulness. We will miss him. Frankie was bigger than life and he will remain in our hearts forever. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024 at St. Agatha Church, 1860 Northam Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221 from 9-10:15 am. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 am. Following Mass, a luncheon will be held at St. Agatha Church and then at 1pm a procession to St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S. High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio 43137 for his Entombment.

Frankie was a force to be acknowledged when he would walk into any room, he would just light the place up immediately. The smell of his cologne and whiff of his cigar was Frankie's trademark just before he would make a joke that would brighten the day. My daughter and her friends would visit Frankie at his office to see all of his many photos and sports memorabilia, he was great with the girls. We love you Frank, you will be missed.

Frank was my father’s best friend since grade school and a friend of our family since I can remember. He was also a great friend of mine and I will never forget the times we shared at the racetracks including several breeders cups. I will miss his phone calls that always brightened my day. There will never be another one like him and it was an honor to know him. My condolences
