Edward Valentino, 79, of West Jefferson, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at his residence. He was born on May 18, 1934 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Joseph and Frances Valentino. Preceded in death by wife Sharon, and siblings Benjamin, Catherine, Walter, William, James, Mary and Elday. Survived by son Mark, beloved companion Rheba Smith, and many nieces and nephews. Edward graduated from Central High School in 1952, the same year he captained the city co-champion baseball team. He owned the Rainbow Tavern on the city’s west side, and later worked at Porcelain Steel Buildings, a subsidiary of White Castle Systems. He enjoyed a successful real estate career at Saxton Real Estate before brokering his own firm, West Jefferson Real Estate. A long-time member of Holy Family Catholic Church, he coordinated the bingo hall for many years. He also served as trustee for the Village of Jefferson Board of Public Affairs in Madison, County, president of the London Country Club, and president of the West Jefferson Youth Athletic Association. Edward was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. He also enjoyed casino gambling and card playing with friends. Broad St. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, 6959 W. Broad St., Galloway, Ohio. The family also thanks the medical teams at Mount Carmel West Hospital, Mount Carmel Hospice, the Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital, Fresenius Medical Care, David Bichsel M.D., Feng Chen M.D., Dan Andrews R.N. and Father Mark Ghiloni.
