Obituary
Dominic Joseph Massinople, 92, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on September 2, 2009. He was born April 6, 1917 in Affinity, WV. He graduated from Bowling Green College in Kentucky. Dominic served as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal while stationed in Europe during WWII. He and his brother, Anthony, founded Tri-City Welding Supply Company in Fairmont, WV in 1956, which they operated for 28 years. While living in Fairmont, he was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He served for an extended period of time as President of the ARC (Association of Retarded Citizens). He enjoyed gardening and golf. After his retirement, Dominic and his wife, Lillian, moved to the Columbus area. He was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church in Hilliard, OH. He is preceded in death by parents Mariano and Grazia; beloved wife Lillian Aurora; son Michael; brother Charles Massinople; and brother Anthony (Grace) Massinople.
Surviving Dominic are his children: Jo Stealey, Mary Massinople, Lilli (John) Koval, Joseph (Beth) Massinople, Rita (Ed) Park, Phil (Mary) Massinople , 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call TUESDAY September 8, 2009 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, from 6:00-8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM on WEDNESDAY September 9, 2009 at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel (witnin the St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S. High Street, Lockboune, Ohio), Msgr. Romano Ciotola, Presider. FRIENDS ARE ASKED TO MEET AT CHAPEL. A Rite of Committal will follow. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute in memory of Dominic to the Ohio Health Foundation (HomeReach Hospice), 180 E. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215. We were deeply saddened to hear the news.Dominic was the last 1st cousin on my father's side,here in America. Along with Charlie and Tony, he was a role model for me and my siblings as we were growing up in the '30s and '40s. There are so many good memories, too numerous to mention here.
