Dante Apollonio, born June 15, 1936 in Cerrito de Vastogirardi, Italy, passed away August 19, 2023 in Columbus, Ohio. Dante worked as a welder with National Electric Coil until his retirement. Dante married the love of his life Teresa in Italy in 1963. He immigrated to the United States shortly thereafter and Teresa joined him in January 1966. They have lived in Columbus, Ohio ever since. Dante is preceded in death by his wife, Teresa; parents, Dominicantonio and Anna Apollonio; brothers-in-law, Felice, Orlando, Amicouce, and Luigino Apollonio and Ferdinando Rotolo; sisters-in-law, Giovanna Apollonio, Yolanda Apollonio and Renata Apollonio. Dante is survived by his son, Anthony (Mary) Apollonio; grandchildren, Ashley (Bryan) Hairston, Christopher (Madison) Apollonio, and Alexandra Apollonio (Ethan Poff). He is also survived by sister Angiolina (Ottavio) Apollonio and brother Joe Apollonio; sister-in-law Maria Rotolo and brother-in-law Amico Apollonio; nieces, Tiziana (Rick) Sagar, Antonella (Pepe) Trotta, Ilda (Sabatino) DiLorenzo and Enrica Apollonio; nephews, Davide Apollonio, Andrea (Renata) Apollonio, Paulo Apollonio and Gino (Serena) Apollonio; great-nieces, Cinzia DiLorenzo and Julia Apollonio; great-nephews, Fabricio DiLorenzo, Felice Apollonio and Yuri Trotta as well as many other cousins and loving extended family and friends in the United States and Italy. Dante will be missed by all who loved his courage, strength and sense of humor. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 9-10 am at the John Quint Treboni Funeral Home, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43212. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 1420 Grandview Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43212 with a procession following to St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S. High Street Lockbourne, Ohio 43137. Many thanks go out to all the wonderful people who helped Dante in preparation for his journey to heaven, including but are not limited to, the entire staff at Davita Hilliard Station Dialysis, Mount Carmel Hospital & Physicians, Allen & Greene Transportation and Laura Bolster.
