Obituary

Charles DeMatteo, age 99, of Grove City passed away on Thursday, July 14th, 2005 at his daughter's home. He was the Eldest of 10 children born to Carmine & Eugenia(Pignatelli) on January 5, 1906 in Columbus, Ohio. Long time member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Grove City, Ohio. He retired after 40 years as a machinist for the Pennsylvania Railroad. After retirement he was a real estate investor. An avid reader, Charles was knowledgeable of business and world affairs until the end of his life. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather and was always eager to share stories of his life experiences. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Carmine J.(Carol) DeMatteo, grandson Mark Lantz, infant sister Theresa and brothers Daniel, Michael, Anthony, Joseph and Leonard DeMatteo. Survived by his beloved wife of 78 years Angeline(Capocciama), daughters Mary Ann(Carmine)Cervi of Toledo, Ohio and Anita Lantz, grandchildren Thomas(Stephenie), Michael(Alyce), Gregg(Mary), John(Tammera), Sister Marie Christine, SND, and Carmine C. Cervi, Angela(Terry)Cook, Lisa(Thomas)Peters, Lauren(Simon)Roper, Craig Lantz, 17 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and brothers Rocky(Rose), John and Ralph(Christine). Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call Tuesday, July 19th, 2005 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 20th, 2005 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3730 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio, Rev. Fr. John L. Swickard. Celebrant. Entombment will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum, 6440 S. High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute in memory of Charles to the Mount Carmel Hospice, 1144 Dublin Road, Columbus Ohio 43215. Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com.
