Obituary
Carolyn Chavanne, age 85, of Columbus, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on July 9, 2025. She was born on April 21, 1940, she dedicated over 40 years of service to the State of Ohio, spending the majority of her career with the Department of Administrative Services, Division of Computer Services. In retirement, Carolyn embraced the simple joys of life- her daily Starbucks, regular workouts at McConnell Heart Health Center gym, her dog Jacques and a continued passion for technology and sports. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends. She was a steadfast supporter in the lives of her loved ones, always ready to help with their activities, interests, goals, and even their pets. Many milestones were reached thanks to her unwavering love and encouragement. She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Bill Chavanne; daughters, Suzanne and Michelle; grandson, Zachary; sister, Diane (Tom) Craver; and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Laoma and Horace Wilson; sisters, Jean Carpenter and Lois LaWarre; and brother, David Wilson. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in support of animals' or women's rights- causes close to Carolyn's heart.

Please accept my sincere condolences on Carolyn's passing. She was my Supervisor on many projects at DAS and I always enjoyed working with her. After we'd both retired I was so pleased that we continued our friendship and met for coffee and chit chat every so often. I will miss her, her sense of humor, and her wisdom.

I was sad to learn of Carolyn’s passing and all that it means for your family.
I love that she loved animals deeply: that is a shared value in our own family.
And I can say without reservation she was a *great mother* because I know some of her works - Michelle. My hope is you can spend *more time* laughing than crying. And if you can, that is a great legacy indeed. I am very sorry for your loss.

Sincerest sympathy for the Chavanne family. I worked with Carolyn for many years and she was actually my boss for a short time. She was knowledgable, fair, and always trated me with respect. She loved her Ohio State basketball and I miss those talks. Rest in Peace..

I was saddened to hear of the sudden loss of Carolyn. Carolyn was the final administrator that I reported to during my 27 year career at DAS. Carolyn was an insightful, dedicated, supportive, and caring person. We shared meaningful conversations both pertaining to public service and personal issues. Carolyn was a force to be reckoned with and had an unyielding strength to fulfill the expectations placed on her and her team. I am grateful to God for the opportunity of knowing Carolyn.
