Anna Maria Luciani was born July 23, 1963, in Columbus, Ohio and passed away peacefully in her sleep of natural causes September 25, 2022. Anna will be fondly remembered for her kind and loving demeanor, beautiful smile, and infectious laugh. She graduated valedictorian from Brookhaven High School. Anna was celebrated as a state champion tennis player, as well as runner up in the 1980 Miss Teen Ohio competition. Anna was academically brilliant, adored her family, appreciated music, and loved to dance. Anna's career aspirations to be a physician were cut short in her college years as the onset of mental illness derailed her life plan. During this time, mental health resources for the young adult population were sparse and limited. Anna's lifelong challenge for resources in mental health helped pave the way for the improvements in patient care and mental health care emerging today. Anna's legacy is that she, and others who share in her struggle, reshape public perception and understanding of mental illness and improve the path to inclusivity and community support. Anna's hero in life was her father, Benito Luciani, who was a fierce advocate for her needs. She is survived by her loving father, Benny Luciani (Elisa Luciani, step-mother), mother, Miriam DiFrancesco, sister, Valerie Luciani, step-sister, Jennifer Thielen, step-nephew and step-niece, Alec Thielen, Jada Thielen, aunt, Maria Iafelice uncle, Simon DiFrancesco, cousins, David Iafelice, Paul Iafelice, Carmen Iafelice, Charlie Iafelice, Lucia and Lem Arcomo, step-grandparents, Velia Ventresca, step-aunts, Rita Ventresca, Anita Hughes.
