Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce Ann Marie (Cannon) Lorenz, 92, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Ann was born into the loving arms of her earthly mother on Nov 12, 1933 and received into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Feb 1, 2026. Born at St. Ann’s Maternity Hospital, Ann was the fourth of six children born to William Merrill Cannon and Mary Agnes (Holtz) Cannon. She grew up on the Hilltop (West Side) of Columbus, Ohio. She attended West Broad St. Elementary, West Junior High and graduated in 1952 from Holy Family High School. She married Thomas R. Lorenz on Oct 16, 1954, who proceeded her in death on Nov 12, 2015. Together they raised 9 children. A proud mother of 9 children, she is survived by Steven (Dora), Teresa (Daniel Lau), Paul (Cheryl), Matthew (Kimberly), MaryBeth (P. Scott Hughes), Eileen (Brian Atwell), Anne (T. Scott Watkins), Thomas A. (Mary) and Andrew (Kathrine); 23 dearly loved grandchildren, who called her Grammy, Alexandra (Dusty Sharrer), Kelly, Christine and Jonathon (Marie) Lorenz, Joshua and Lauren Lau, Sarah (Jered Marshall), Katie (Matt) Prescott, Charles “C.T.” (Melissa) and Nick (Regan) Lorenz, Bradley Lorenz, Matthew Curran, Danny (Ashley) and Jimmy (Sarah) Hughes, David (Megan) Atwell, Megan (Jeff) Debord and Morgan Atwell, Ashley (Chad) Cardwell, and Cara (Matt) Toft, Bridget (Justin) Klimchak and Maggie (Austin) Richards, Ryan & Isabel Lorenz; and 11 great-grandchildren, Tommy, Ben & Andy Prescott; Dominic Lorenz, Claire & Judah Cardwell; Eleanor, Amelia & Oliver Lorenz; Emerson Atwell, Charlie Klimchak; sister, Sarah “Cherry” Thompson; brothers-in-law, Chris (Joan) Lorenz and Bob (Donna) Lorenz; sisters-in-law, Joanie Lorenz, Judy Hosler, Sr. de Chantal Lorenz, O.P., Linda Peeler, Mary Francis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband of 61 years, Tom; her parents, sisters, Juanita (Harold) Beckett & Jean (Edward) Fisher; brothers, William (Shirley) & Joseph “Jack” (Natalie) Cannon; brothers-in-law, Russell Thompson, Terry (Jodelle) & Jim Lorenz, Lee Peeler, Ray Hosler and Mark Francis; sister-in-law, St. Mary Linda Lorenz, O.P. An independent lady devoted to her faith; Ann was a long-time member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. She lived a long active life and was a woman of many talents and enjoyed sharing them with her family and friends. Ann loved gardening and surrounded her home with beautiful flowers and vegetable gardens. She will be remembered for her many beautifully decorated cakes. She and Tom traveled throughout North America, Europe and the Caribbean. Her favorite place to visit was Hawaii. Ann was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Her memory will inspire all of those whose lives she touched. The family will receive friends on Thurs, Feb 5 from 2-4 pm & 5-7 pm at JOHN QUINT TREBONI FH, 1177 W. 5th Ave Columbus, Ohio 43212 (with a Prayer Service at 3:45 pm.) Mass of Christian burial will be on Fri Feb 6th at 11 am at St. Joseph Cemetery Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel, 6440 S. High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio 43137 with interment immediately following; Rev. Father Daniel Ochs, Celebrant. The family would like to express their thanks to OhioHealth Campassus Hospice for their kindness and patience in caring for Ann and treating her with dignity and respect.

Our hearts ache with yours over the passing of your dear, precious mother. We are grateful with you for the lifetime of tender and meaningful moments shared together that now will only become that much more powerful in your thoughts and remembrances of her.
