Alfred Guirguis Bishara, age 88, passed away peacefully in Port Orange, Florida surrounded by his loving family. Born in El Minya, Egypt on January 20, 1923. He was a gifted teacher, loving husband and devoted father. Alfred was awarded the King's Scholarship and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris. He came to the United States in 1964 to assure his family a better life. Alfred taught Civil Engineering at the University of Kentucky from 1964-1966. He then taught at The Ohio State University from 1966 until his retirement as Professor Emeritus. Alfred was a designer/consultant on many bridge projects in Egypt and the United States. He was a resident of Columbus and then retired to West Palm Beach (Singer Island) Florida. Alfred is preceded in death by his beloved wife Claire and brothers Kamal and Guirguis. He is survived by sons, Amin (Eva) and Magdi (Nancy), who cared for him in their home until his death. Alfred is also survived by his grandchildren, Heather Michele, Joseph Magdi, Aaron Joseph (fiancee Laura Ingram), Ryan Alexander, his precious great-granddaughter Madeline Claire, brothers, Sami (Faiza) and Mahfouz (Hyatt) and many nieces, nephews and friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Kendrick, Dr. David Ahr and all the staff at Hospice of Volusia/Flagler for the wonderful care given to Alfred. Friends may call TUESDAY August 16, 2011 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on WEDNESDAY August 17 at St. Agatha Catholic Church, 1860 Northam Road. FRIENDS ARE ASKED TO MEET AT CHURCH. Interment will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S. High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio.
