Alberto H. Perez, age 94, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2021. Papi, EO, Abuelo, Big Al, Captain Pepsi, Berto - a well-known and loved resident of Grandview Heights since 1960 when he and his family arrived in Columbus from Havana, Cuba. Born and raised in Havana, Cuba, Al and his beloved wife Rosa fled the country in 1960 for a brighter future for their family in the United States. Settling in Columbus, Ohio, Alberto started working at Pepsi Cola Bottling Company where he stayed for 33 years, until retirement. He loved his job and the entire Pepsi family. He was a member of the Grandview Heights Bobcat Boosters, an organizer of many Cuban conventions and gatherings, international festivals, and longtime President of the Cuban Circle of Columbus. He loved all sports, especially if his children or grandchildren were playing. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents Alberto and Vicenta Perez, wife Rosa Llaneza Perez, children Vicki Perez Speakman, Alberto "Bertin" Perez, Jorge Perez and daughter-in-law Idania Ruiz. Survived by sons Orlando Ruiz, Luis Perez (Denise "DeeDee"), Miguel "Mikey" Perez (Yianni Vitellas),son-in-law Mike Speakman; grandchildren Christina Ruiz (Jon Carlaw), Danny Ruiz, Katie Speakman (Joy Taylor), Travis Speakman (Kian Weaver), Louie Perez (Anne), Anthony Perez (Alex), Nicolas (Josie); Great grandchildren Manny Perez and Aiden & the Weaver-Speakman boys. Also, and incredibly, all siblings (in their 90s) Elvira Perez Ramos, Diego Perez and Gustavo Perez; nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Family will receive friends 4-7pm Thursday, September 9 at JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue. Graveside Service and Burial will be held Friday 10:00 am at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 6440 South High Street Lockbourne, OH 43137.
