Obituary

Nancy Grace Connor (Mock) Walter, age 92, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on September 5, 2021. Nancy was born March 6, 1929 at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Laurence Ruel Connor and Marguerite Riel Connor. Nancy graduated from Grandview Heights High School in 1946, and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Ohio State University in 1950. Nancy was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1938. She taught Sunday School, was a member of the Bell Choir and UM Women's circles and maintained a bulletin board of members news for 20 years. She was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority and Alumnae, GHHS Alumni Association, Grandview Heights Friends of the Library and Grandview Heights/Marble Cliff Historical Society. Nancy was also a former member of Beaux Arts of Columbus Museum of Art and Women's Art Guild of Central Ohio. Nancy enjoyed reading, painting and art activities, gardening, traveling widely with husband George and family parties. Nancy created and published three books: "Where We Came From" family histories of each Nancy and George; "How It Happened" - their childhoods, courtship and family; and "Painting is my Pleasure" - a collection of 225 of her paintings created over a span of more than 40 years. Much of Nancy's art is displayed throughout the city of Columbus and beyond. Nancy's greatest joy was being a wife and mother. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, 2nd Lieutenant David H. Mock, killed in Korean Conflict in 1951. Nancy is survived by her loving husband, George, of 68 years; daughters, Rebecca (James) Oberla, Rachel Kuhar, and Constance (Frank) Lolli; son, Christopher (Renná) Walter; grandchildren, Eric Oberla, Benjamin Kuhar, Evan (Becca) Oberla, Andrea (John) Capella, Melanie (Adam Buch) Lolli, David (Sarah) Kuhar, Abigail Oberla, Diana (Alfred) Yates, Anna Oberla, Alexander Walter and Emily Lolli; great grandchildren, Brayden, Sofia and Asher; brothers, Michael (Marilyn) Connor, Jon Connor and Laurence (Clare) Connor; sister, Elizabeth Foster; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday September 14, 2021 11:00-12:00 pm at TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 1581 CAMBRIDGE BLVD where Funeral Service will begin at 12 pm. Jim and Becky, our hearts and sympathy goes out to you and your family. Your mother will always be with. You were so blessed to be able to enjoy her for so long on such a high scale. She was an amazing lady. I’m going to Fort Mill Friday and won’t be back until late Tuesday. So sorry to miss her service. You and your family will be in our hearts and prayers. Blessings!
