Obituary

Rosemary Christine Leonardo, age 91, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday May 1, 2018.
Preceded in death by her parents, Biagio and Mary (Albanese) Churches, husband Cosmo P. Leonardo and son Steven V. Leonardo. Rosemary was born on May 18, 1926 in Columbus, Ohio, and graduated from Grandview Heights High School where she excelled in math and was the founder of the IOTA Tau Sigma Sorority. After graduating with honors, Rosemary planned on attending The Ohio State University in pursuit of becoming a math teacher, but instead followed her heart and in 1943, she married Cosmo and began their life together that spanned 55 years until Cosmo’s passing in 1998. After growing up as an only child, Rosemary dreamed of having a large family of her own and she achieved her dream by having four children who she spent her life raising in a household filled with unconditional love and undying support. In addition to her own children, Rosemary was one of those special people who served as a mother figure to many of the friends of her sons and daughters. Once her children were in high school, Rosemary enjoyed working outside of the home and was a long time employee of the Tremont Goodie Shop and as an office associate for the late Dr. Joseph Griffith. Rosemary was a long time parishioner at St. Brendan Catholic Church and an active member of several organizations including, the Flytown Club, Amici D’Oro Club, St. Francis Seniors and St. Francis Women’s Club. As a member of these organizations, Rosemary enjoyed traveling throughout the continental United States, as well as Hawaii, Canada and Italy. Rosemary’s family was her pride and joy and the center of her life and she will be sadly missed by those surviving her including her daughters, Mary Jo Flickinger, Linda (Marty) Soller; son, Rich (Debbie) Leonardo; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many loving cousins and close, lifelong friends. Friends may call Thursday, May 3, 2018 (TODAY) from 5-8 p.m. at JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43212. Funeral Mass at St. Brendan Catholic Church, 4475 Dublin Road, Hilliard, Ohio 43026 at 10:30 a.m., Friday May 4, 2018. Father Bob Penhallurick, Presider. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S. High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio 43137. Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com.

Thinking of your family at this time of loss. Rosemary was such a sweet soul. She will always be remembered as a stellar employee of The Goodie Shop, but most of all she was a good friend.
As a wedding gift to me, she and Cosmo gave me a wonderful gift I'll never forget. Cosmo and his band played at my wedding reception!
My mother passed away in January - she always loved Rosemary and asked about her frequently. I'm sure my mom greeted Rosemary upon her arrival Heaven.
