Mrs. Sliemers has been one of the finest examples of motherhood and friendship anyone could ever know. As a lifelong friend of Steve's since childhood, I've had the absolute pleasure of experiencing the joys and love in their family and have witnessed the rock-solid reverence they all have for her and Mr. Sliemers. It has always given me a sense of a great family like when I first saw The Walton family as a ten-year-old in "The Homecoming: A Christmas Story". To see up close such a tight-knit family with deep faith and true values and resilience has been awe-inspiring. Mrs. Sliemers showed supernatural resilience in her never-ending struggle with cancer. I saw her many times when she was enduring the effects of those strength-sapping treatments and I always walked away in authentic wonder and amazement at her spirit and attitude. What a legacy she leaves behind in the hearts and minds of her family and those blessed friends who've been a part of her life, and the lives of the remarkable family she raised! It is an awesome realization that Heaven is made up of people just like her and the belief that she is absolutely at peace and comfort in the presence of the Savior of the World. It gives great honor to what a wonderful life she led. Her footsteps will forever be visible to everyone in her bloodline and beyond. God bless Mrs. Sliemers and the entire Sliemers family.
