On Sunday, June 13th, 2021, Salvatore Dominic Gallucci passed away peacefully in Bethany Beach Del. while holding his daughter's hand. Born just shy of a century ago in Columbus, Ohio, to Fedele and Mary Gallucci, Salvy remembered his childhood fondly and often told stories about life growing up with his 9 siblings. He volunteered for the Army and fought in the Southwest Pacific during WWII. He joined the family construction firm, Concrete Construction; they built many of the interstate highways and infrastructure around Ohio. Salvy met his wife Mary Lou in Columbus and they were married in 1948. They raised 2 daughters in the home Salvy built in Madison County. Salvatore had many nicknames including Salvy, Sal, Shorty, and of course, Poppee. He was a loving family man who enjoyed golf, Westerns, and cards.
Salvy is survived by his two daughters, Julianne Gebbie (Philip) and Joetta Jacobsen, and his sister Gloria Woods. He was a doting grandfather to his 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife, Mary Lou, and siblings: Adeline, John, Jim, Mike, Leonard, Joe, Paul, and Carl. The family will receive friends on Thursday June 24, 4-7pm at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME 1177 W 5TH AVE.
Mass of Christian Burial Friday 1:15pm HOLY FAMILY CHURCH 584 W. Broad St. WHERE FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE ASKED TO MEET AND PROCESSION TO FORM. Fr. Stash Dailey, Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army.
