Obituary

Melba Eva Miller passed away peacefully on August 9, 2020, after a short illness. She was born on March 21, 1926, to Eunice and Ernest Miller in Caldwell, Ohio. She was welcomed into the large Schehl and Miller families, and was loved by all her aunts, uncles and many cousins. After graduating from high school, she moved to Columbus to attend Bliss Business College. From there she began her career with the Ohio Department of Mental Health. She progressed to the position of Administrative Assistant to Martin Janis, a well-known Director of the Ohio Department of Mental Hygiene and Correction. Melba was a feisty, independent (and sometimes stubborn!) woman who was loved by all. She was a person of deep faith, and a long time parishioner of St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Grandview. She loved cats, a good glass of Scotch, cardinals, LL Cool J and reading David Baldacci novels. She is survived by good friends Dick and Bev Epps, Bridget and Steve Huff and numerous cousins. There is no visitation. Her funeral Mass is Monday, August 17, 2020 at 11 a.m., at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 1420 Grandview Avenue, Columbus, with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Caldwell, Ohio. Masks and social distancing are required. Donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 197 E Gay St, Columbus 43215 in Melba's name. Special thanks to the staff at the rehab and 6th floors of Westminster Assisted Living for the loving and excellent care given to Melba for the last two years. Arrangements entrusted with the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus. Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com.
