Obituary

Bernard Ulysses Bowman Jr., PhD., age 91, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Dr. Bowman was a professor emeritus at The Ohio State University, where he taught medical microbiology and immunology for 25 years. He also conducted research and performed public service during his tenure at OSU. He was a member and active publisher for the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. Dr. Bowman served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a pharmacist 2nd mate and was a member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Upper Arlington for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Leila (Maddox) Bowman and his sister, Mary Louise Bowman Self. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Malvie Lee (Waller) Bowman; his children, Laura (Guy) Williams, Marie (Rob) Archer, Jenny (David) Foster and Steve (Tammy) Bowman; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his brother, Robert (Donnis) Bowman. His family will receive friends on Friday, January 12, 2018 beginning at 10 a.m., at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus, where his funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Paul Hansen, presiding.
