Obituary

John E. Patterson, age 94, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Arlington Court. His is preceded in death by his wife of 69-years, Evelyn (Tiberi) Patterson; he is also preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Nellie (Kipp) Patterson; and sister, Hattie Jo (Robert) Layton. He is survived by his sons, John E. (June) Patterson, Jr., and Edward Patterson; grandchildren, Zachary, Lily, Camille, Nick and Shawn; nieces, Debbie Layton and Joan Layton Mayberry; nephew, James Layton; and his many friends. He retired after 40 years from the Railroad, having started with the Pennsylvania Railroad, then working in succession with PennCentral and retiring from ConRail after 40 years of dedicated service. John was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the S.F.I. the Old North Hi Club, the Agonis Club and the Brotherhood of Railway, Airline, and Steamship Clerks. His family will always cherish the many trips he took with them; plus the fun he had on Christmas with the decorations and meals he so delighted in providing for his family, especially his grandchildren. His family will receive family and friends on Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 2-5 p.m., at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, Columbus. Family and friends are asked to gather at 10 a.m., on Monday, July 3, 2017, for his funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 720 Hamlet Street. Entombment to follow, St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum, Lockbourne. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute in memory of John to the St. John the Baptist Church, 720 Hamlet Street, Columbus (43215).
