Hugh DeMoss, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. DeMoss was probably best known for working at WCMH-TV for 23 years, starting out as a news reporter and an anchorman. He later served as news director at the station until 1980. After leaving WCMH, DeMoss served one term as Franklin County Commissioner in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Hugh continued public service by serving the elderly with Seniors Servicing. He also was on the Board of Directors at Veteran's Memorial, active in Charity Newsies and an avid golfer. DeMoss was born in Covington, Ky., and held a degree in broadcasting from the University of Cincinnati and a Masters Degree in Communication from OSU. He first became interested in radio and TV work while attending college, and after graduation served as news and program director for Armed Forces Radio in Tokyo, Japan, during the Korean War. Hugh is survived by his children; April(James)Reece, Douglas H.(Melissa)DeMoss, grandchildren;Crystal, Kenny, Jacob, Joshua, Jeremy, Aaron, great grandchildren; Bailee, Timothy, Faith, Christian, aunt Mary Voss, very special friend JoAnn Jenkins and many other close friends. Family will receive friends on Monday November 24, 2003 at the Veteran's Memorial, 300 West Broad Street from 4:00-7:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service.
