Obituary

Mary Kathryn McManis
Sunrise: February 25, 1926; Sunset: June 1, 2017
Preceded in death by husband, Paul Joseph and son, Michael Joseph. Survived by children, Jane Ann McManis, Charlene (Joel) Stone, Bonnie (James) Watt, Timothy McManis and Patrick (Laura) McManis; and daughter-in-law, Sharon McManis; her seven grandchildren who meant the world to her, Christina, Stephanie, Nathan, James, Micah, Nicole, Jared, Abigail, and Mitchell; as well as four great-grandchildren, Jaden, Donovan, Elijah, and Atlas; all who kept a sparkle in her eye to the end. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews in the Klaiber and Wire families as well as everyone she knew. Mary, known as "Boots" by her childhood friends and family, was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended Marion College prior to marrying Paul Joseph. Mary had a loving and generous heart; she was always giving in time and spirit to others. She was an active member of St. Timothy's for 54 years. She delivered communion to the elderly, volunteered at St. Stephens Community House, was a scout leader, and taught catechism. Mary enjoyed a diversified career which included being a full-time mother, social worker, substitute teacher, working for a dermatologist, office manager for an investigator, switchboard operator at OSU, earned a real estate license and sold property as well as cooking, cleaning, sewing, driving, and loving six children. She was an avid card and game player. Family will receive friends at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, on Monday, June 5, 2017 from 4-7 p.m., with a memorial service to celebrate her life at 6:30 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to, St. Stephen's Community House, 1500 E. 17th Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43219 by visiting www.saintstephensch.org. We enjoyed Mary as a volunteer at St. Lawrence Haven. She always said she'd see us next week if the Lord is willing and the creek don't rise. She always had a smile for the people we serve. A great volunteer. Very glad to know her.

I only met Mary once when my wife Lois & I went to dinner with her & Paul I was a very good friend of Paul . I bought products from Paul when I worked at JCPenney Eastland. Paul thought the world of Mary & I'am glad they are together again.

Our family has know Mary since we were all children in Belleville, Michigan Remembering her as a sweet soul and a wonderful example of Catholic motherhood. She will be missed by many within her community. Love and prayers from our family to hers - Jane, Charlene, Bonnie, Tim and Pat, and the in-laws and grandchildren we have not met.
