Elizabeth "Betty" Reitter (Baumann), age 91, after a long struggle with dementia, passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 29th, 1927 and graduated from St. Mary of the Springs Academy in 1945. She was a military nurse's aide volunteer, and member of St. Agatha Parish and Women's Club in Upper Arlington, Ohio. She supported many causes for children and Veterans. Inspired by Native American ways, she held holistic views toward health and healing. Her hobbies included music, playing piano/organ and cards, dancing, singing and painting. She was an avid UA & OSU fan, and skilled athlete herself in tennis, softball, basketball, and bowling (Women's International Bowling Congress; Amigo Club 1961 Champion). She will be remembered for her "love and light", and selfless devotion to her family and Reitter Stucco. Preceded in death by parents, Fritz and Ellen (Fitzmartin) Baumann; siblings, Wally, Bill, Bob, Fritz and Mary Jane "Toots" Wirthman; son, David Paul, and husband of 33 yrs., Richard "Dick" Reitter. Survived by siblings, Jack, Rick, Nancy Mizesko, and Carol Perkins; children, Gabe, Fritz, Gary (Wendy), Bobby (Lynne), Jack (Sheri), Tammy, and Ellen (Frank) Portier; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Many thanks to the Crown Pointe Care Center staff. Visitation Tuesday, June 12th 5-8 p.m., and Wednesday June 13th at 9:30 a.m., with a 10 a.m. Memorial Service at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus, OH 43212 followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 South High St. Lockbourne, OH 43137. In lieu of flowers, continue her support of children and military families, by donating In Memory of "Elizabeth Reitter", to either: Ronald McDonald House Charities-Central Ohio, RMHC-centralohio.org or M.A.S.H.
